It wasn’t until I discovered Ariana (Pippa) that I ever truly understood the reader’s desire to save the characters from the author. Here we are now in the third and final book and I once again found myself pulled right back into Eroan and Lysander’s fight to save themselves and those they love. If you enjoyed the first two books you’ll absolutely love this one, after your heart has recovered from the death defying rollercoaster ride this book will take you on.Finally, we get to see Lysander and Eroan fighting for each other and to be together. Yes, they fulfill their obligations to the elves and to the dragons respectively BUT then they throw all the naysayers the proverbial middle finger and demand that people either accept them together or back off.Akiem, oh Akiem let me count the ways you broke my heart, I never thought after the first book, that I would ever cry for you, but I did.I screamed at my Kindle, I laughed out loud, my poor dog thinks I’m nuts, but that is okay because this story, all three, have been worth having my heart stuffed through a meat grinder. 10/10 will reread at least twice more before the end of the month!Disclaimer: Yes I did receive an ARC copy for me to review, I have also had this book on pre-order since it was announced and am happily paying for my own copy! Elves, dragon, and m/m romance. It doesn’t get much better. Fantasy and gay romance bundled into one delicious, if intense, story. This is not a fluff romance. There is betrayal, battles, death, and despair. But there is hope and love, too. Poor Eroan and Lysander are torn apart, brought back together, and torn apart again. But don’t worry. I won’t spoil, but I *will* say it is a happy ending. You just have to get through every jolt along the way.The climax felt a little rushed, but by the same token, considering how much blood and death there is along the way, I don’t know if I could have handled a super intense battle. There were parts that tore at my heart, but like I said, there is hope, too.I would have looked to learn more of Alumn and the history there. Maybe the next book, the Black Prince will go into that more, as it seems to take place in a different part of the world. Speaking of which…I am super curious about that book, considering certain events in Blood & Ice. I have some burning questions. But anyway, I digress.I enjoyed seeing more of Trey. I’m glad he made it through, though I felt bad for him at times. I hope he finds happiness, too. Nye was…complicated. A part of me wanted him to find redemption, but not everyone does. Perhaps it was for the best. There comes a point when one goes too far.Eroan and Lysander…gods, they’re amazing together. I rooted for them every step of the way. The ending was good, like I said, and it is HEA, but that doesn’t mean all wounds are healed. Eroan and Lysander, and the elves and other dragons, have all been through a lot, and emotional wounds take longer to heal. But they will, together…until it is done.If you love fantasy and m/m, read this series. I can’t wait to read more in this world.
